Reflection (Stage 1)
In my previous years of schooling I've learned most if not all of the mains points or ideas. Of course I haven't really gone super deep into history so I'm excited to go more in depth with everything. With anticipation of this class I feel I will go more in depth when it comes to these main ideas and really explore the topics and get a good feel of them in order to really get grasp and understanding of the topics. I am most curious about the city-state of Sparta and more specifically their power expressed through their strong military force known as the Spartans. I always see movies and hear stories about the great Spartans and I find it fascinating how mighty and renown they were. Some thoughts that come to mind are about their fighting tactics, who came up with their tactics ideology, who is credited to the success in battle of the Spartans. A bit idea that hits me every time I think of Sparta is why they were so strong. What made the Spartans such a powerful army and what drove them to become that powerful.
Reflection (Stage 2)
So far I have not really learned a whole lot about what I was curious about. We haven't really gone over the Spartans and their civilization and empire. We've covered many strong and powerful armies that was similar to that power of the Spartan Empire. Recently we covered the Roman Republic and Roman Empire which really intrigued me. I never knew the Roman Empire wasn't always the Roman Empire. Hearing there was a Roman Republic was an eye opener for me, it really brought out my interest in Rome and all about it. Another thing tied in with the Roman Empire and its collapse was the big part of Christianity and its foothold during the that time. I enjoy learning about Christianity's history, since I am a Catholic. Thinking on this I really am excited to learn about any and all religions we will go over, it fascinates me how they contrast from my own religion.
