Significant Learning Experience
One of the most significant learning experiences I have had from this first semester was my experience with the my soccer career. Just before we got sent back home for the semester because of Covid-19 the soccer team at Adams State had plans to have our first practice with the new coach who was coming in. This first day was supposed to be a fitness testing type of day to see what the team had to offer the new coach and to see where we as a team were at individually. The moment I heard about this training session day a few weeks before the actual day I was panicking and worrying about my fitness levels. I knew I wasn't following through 100% on my own fitness training which would not have been good for me in relation to the team or the coach. luckily, but also not so great for us, the training session never happened because shortly before we all got sent home and the training sessions were cancelled. This gives me more time to focus on my own fitness training and actually take it serious as well as really getting me to realize the fact that I need to step up my game and grow up. It taught me to get a hold of my own life and focus on myself, I had to be the one to take care of myself and that I was the one responsible for my own growth and development as an athlete, adult, and even student. Not only did this teach me to be responsible for my own actions that correlate to my own growth as a person it has shown me that I have to be responsible for myself in every single aspect of my life not just sports, but school, work, in my community, in my own household, and anything else I'm a part of or anything I do. This experience can be compared to the Adams Outcome: Personal and Social Responsibility. The reason is because this experience will has taught me as a my own person to take care of my own self and watch for out for my self as well as it teaching me to take care of my own responsibility. Everyone has there own responsibility that they must take care of, these personal responsibilities can also have an effect on the community around you which ties into the social responsibility by showing that you have to take care of your own responsibilities in order to be successful not only for yourself but as a whole with your community. I'm glad I learned this valuable lesson or more so got a good hard lesson to really lock down the idea in my own head that way I can take this new idea forward in my continuing journey through collegiate sports, college, and anything else that I encounter. Specifically for this scenario I am taking my fitness schedule serious and making sure to push myself to be the best I can be and not letting myself slack and hinder my own success.
